    John T. Benjamin, Jr.: Graduated from Boston University Law School in 1991; Graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1988. Licensed by the State of North Carolina in March of 1992; Admitted to Practice in all Federal Courts in North Carolina; Admitted to Practice in the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Member of the North Carolina State Bar Association, Member of the Wake County Bar Association, Member of the American Bar Association; Member of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association.

    Areas of Concentration: Civil Litigation, Risk Assessment, Claims Avoidance, Bank Litigation, Construction Law and Contracts. Mr. Benjamin has handled numerous lawsuits on behalf of banks and servicers in both State and Federal court. Trials in all courts and tribunals and appellate work.

    Mr. Benjamin received and maintained the AV rating for legal skill and ethics from Martindale for more the 20 years now. The AV rating is the highest available rating for both skill and ethics available to attorneys in North Carolina by Martindale. Mr. Benjamin received this award immediately upon joining Martindale and has maintained this AV rating for each successive year.

    William E. Hubbard: Will Hubbard has practiced law in North Carolina for nearly 30 years. He handles complex litigation from beginning to end in all state and federal courts in this state, including Bankruptcy Court in all three federal districts. Mr. Hubbard has dealt with countless lawsuits in State Court alongside John T. Benjamin, Jr. They have managed hundreds of such cases with skill and with extremely focused hard work. Thorough preparation is a cornerstone of Will’s practice.

    Mr. Hubbard also has extensive experience with alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Hubbard has handled numerous arbitrations and mediations for very large commercial clients in complex construction disputes, involving payment disputes and construction defects. Mr. Hubbard has represented home builders, land developers, and trade contractors. As a part of such representation, he has helped his clients navigate insurance coverage issues. He has represented clients in cases pending before the North Carolina Court of Appeals and administrative proceedings. Mr. Hubbard has been selected by his peers on multiple occasions as one of the Legal Elite in our state. Will has practiced alongside John Benjamin, for his entire career and they have jointly represented, successfully, some of the largest commercial clients in this state.

    Mr. Hubbard is accomplished in many different fields, but construction law is one of his top areas of expertise. He consulted with the advisory group on lien law when it was being rewritten and has helped numerous large clients avoid liens that have been improperly filed. He also has filed countless liens for small, medium, and large contracting clients alike. He has pursued public and private payment bond claims on state and federal projects in North Carolina. 

    Mr. Hubbard has experience representing the interests of property owners and financial institutions in numerous condemnation proceedings throughout the state. These eminent domain proceedings have been filed by cities, counties, the NC Department of Transportation, and public utilities. Mr. Hubbard has successfully maximized the just compensation awards of his clients in such cases. Other cases have involved successfully defending property owners from premises liability claims.

    Mr. Hubbard has expertise aiding financial institutions and mortgage servicers enforce their security instruments. These disputes range from commercial and residential landlord/tenant disputes to contested foreclosure proceedings. Mr. Hubbard has brought successful title curative actions for clients when necessary to correct instruments to reflect the intent of the parties in a transaction. 

    Mr. Hubbard handles adversary proceedings in Bankruptcy Court for financial creditor institutions primarily and has successfully resolved each of the ones that he has handled. He brings a reasoned, calm approach to all the claims he handles which translates very well in the Bankruptcy forum.

    Mr. Hubbard graduated from the Norman A. Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University in 1996 and was licensed to practice law by the State of North Carolina in 1996; Graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science in 1992; Admitted to Practice in all Federal Courts in North Carolina. Member of the North Carolina State Bar Association and Wake County Bar Association. Mr. Hubbard was selected by other lawyers to the Legal Elite in Construction Law in 2013, 2020 and 2024. Mr. Hubbard also studied abroad for a year at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom.

    William Thomas Kesler, Jr.: “Billy” was born and raised in Goldsboro, N.C. He graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He graduated Cum Laude from the Norman A. Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University in 2001. Billy has been licensed to practice law in the State of North Carolina since 2001.

    After working as a law clerk with Judge Douglas McCullough on the North Carolina Court of Appeals for two years, the majority of his practice has consisted of civil trial work in defense of personal injury and construction liability matters across North Carolina. This includes general liability cases defending contractors in residential and commercial matters involving indemnity, liability and damages between each other and owners. In addition, he has litigated estate matters, personal injury matters on behalf of injured persons, small business matters, insurance coverage, UM/UIM matters and subrogation matters on behalf of insurance carriers.

    He is admitted to practice in all Federal Courts in North Carolina and the Fourth Circuit. Member of the North Carolina State Bar Association and the Wake County Bar Association.

    Outside of work, Billy is raising three sons with his wife Chrystie. He enjoys playing golf and being outdoors. He is an Eagle Scout and an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 364 in Raleigh. He is an active member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
